It’s been a long time since 1995!
We wouldn’t really expect Cindy Crawford and Richard Gere to still be friends more than 20 years after they divorced, but the supermodel also confirmed in a recent interview with Marc Maron that she and her ex husband are not exactly besties.

The supermodel was 26 and the actor 42 when they married in 1991, pretty much at the height of both their careers, but unfortunately things didn’t work out.
Looking back on those years, Cindy said:
“I didn’t think I was young, though, but I was young. I was with Richard for, like, six years, but I was only married for two years.”
After all this time, Cindy doesn’t necessarily feel so close to her former love:
“We’re friendly, but I think it’s almost like he’s gone back to being, like, ‘Richard Gere’ again, like a stranger, because we don’t really see each other that much.”
She also admits that perhaps the age gap and fame got in the way:
“I think part of the problem in our relationship was that we were a lot of other things, but I don’t know if we were ever friends ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ like peers, because I was young, and he was Richard Gere.”
Well, not every relationship can last forever. At least Cindy seems to have found lifelong bliss with husband Rande Gerber!
