We have an update on the tragic passing of Todd Meadows.
Captain Rick Shelford revealed devastating news on Monday: Todd, the “newest member” of the Deadliest Catch family, died on their ship the Aleutian Lady while fishing on the Bering Sea on February 25. Calling it “the most tragic day in the history” of the ship, Rick urged fans to lift Todd’s family up during this unimaginably difficult time:
“We ask that you lift Todd’s children and family in prayer and keep them in your thoughts as they face the days ahead without him.”

Sources confirmed to TMZ on Monday the crew was filming the newest season of Deadliest Catch, but it’s unclear if cameras were rolling when Todd unexpectedly died. But we’re now hearing the Coast Guard is getting involved with an official investigation.
On Tuesday, a Coast Guard representative revealed more information about Todd’s death. Speaking with TMZ they revealed he fell overboard:
“On February 25, 2026, at 5:05 PM local Alaska time, Coast Guard watchstanders at the Arctic District command center in Juneau received notification from the fishing vessel Aleutian Lady, reporting that a crew member by the name of Todd Meadows fell overboard approximately 170 miles north of Dutch Harbor.”
That’s so horrible. The rep continued:
“He was recovered unresponsive by the crew approximately ten minutes later. First aid and attempts to resuscitate were unsuccessful, and the crew transported the deceased to Dutch Harbor.”
For those who have never seen Deadliest Catch, the waves these crew members traverse are NOT ones you’d want to find yourself stuck in. This situation continues to just be so tragic.
A GoFundMe has been started to help Todd’s family with their immense loss. As of the time of writing this, more than $30k of the $45k goal has been raised.
Our hearts continue to be with his loved ones. Rest in peace.
