PHEW! Hope is not lost!
Three New York college kids proved that good, moral people still exist when they bought a $20 second-hand couch and found $40,000 in it!
SUNY New Paltz students Reese Werkhoven, Callie Guasti, and Lara Russo found three envelopes filled with cash in a couch they picked up from the Salvation Army, but instead of keeping the thousands, they tracked down the rightful owner thanks to a leftover deposit slip.
Reese explained:
“At first we found the money but there was no name or anything, and we’re bugging out, like, what kind of boat are we going to get, where are we going. Next door, they actually thought that we won the lottery. Our walls are really thin between our wall and their wall. It wasn’t a debate, we immediately reached a consensus that this is her money.”
And, to think, people badmouth today’s youth! LOLz!
The rightful owner turned out to be an elderly widower who thought the cash was lost forever after her daughter mistakenly sold the couch with the dough still stored.
The woman was SO grateful that she rewarded the do-gooders with $1,000!
Well, that won’t buy them a boat, but it’ll certainly help pay the rent AND the kiddies will be able to sleep at night knowing they did the right thing.
