Conan O’Brien revealed that he would have left NBC over doing what Jay Leno did to him! He explains in an interview with 60 Minutes‘ Steve Kroft airing on May 2:
├óΓé¼┼ôHe went and took that show back and I think in a similar situation, if roles had been reversed, I know– I know me, I wouldn’t have done that.
“If I had surrendered The Tonight Show and handed it over to somebody publicly and wished them well– and then├óΓé¼┬ªsix months later. But that’s me, you know. Everyone’s got their own, you know, way of doing things.├óΓé¼┬¥
As for why HE left NBC, Conan said it was because he didn’t think it would be the best work environment anymore. He says:
├óΓé¼┼ôI think this relationship is going be toxic and maybe we just need to go our separate ways. That’s really how it felt to me├óΓé¼┬ªand I started to feel that I’m not sure these people even really want me here├óΓé¼┬ª.I can’t do it [anymore].├óΓé¼┬¥
