It’s actually pretty simple, at least for you ladies.
According to reports, more than 21,000 U.S. women will develop ovarian cancer in 2010, and another 14,000 will die from it. But there is one way to help reduce the risk and it also keeps you safe from a lot of other diseases as well.
Researchers have found that using any type of contraceptives help protect those who might develop the cancer. After comparing women without ovarian cancer to those with it , studies have found that women who used any type of contraception — birth control pills, getting your “tubes tied”, IUDs or diaphragms — had between a 40 and 65 percent lower risk of ever developing ovarian cancer.
Pretty good, right? And you know what? There’s something men can do too, though it is a little drastic. Studies also suggest that having a vasectomy can aid in prevention as well.
But here’s the real question: why?
Well, one theory speculates that it’s possible that sperm itself may increase inflammation that causes the cancer. The less exposure to sperm, the less inflammation.
Inneresting. Thankfully, there are people looking into these sort of things, so that women can make more informed decisions to help them stay healthy!
