Cookie Monster would not approve!
In what sounds like a page from the playbook of Wednesday Addams, two California high school students claimed to have served a batch of cookies to their classmates — baked with one of their grandfather’s ashes.
According to Davis Police officials, two female students at Da Vinci Charter Academy recently brought the allegedly contaminated sugar cookies to school. Nine students ate the cookies; some of whom were privy to the secret ingredient, while others reportedly weren’t told until after eating.
Cops are conducting an investigation, and have filed the case under California penal code as a public nuisance.

Though the interviews police have conducted seem “credible,” it’s unclear whether the sweets really contained human ashes or not. The cookies have not been sent to a crime lab or tested, as there were reportedly none left for officials to examine.
No students have reported feeling sick or throwing up after eating the cookies, but parents are particularly upset over the incident. On Tuesday, the school principal shared a letter to parents on the school’s website about the “challenging” issue, writing:
“I can say that those who were involved are remorseful and this is now a personal family matter and we want to respect the privacy of the families involved.”
Police have still not discovered a motive.
