Corey Feldman got the scare of his life this week.
On Thursday, the 51-year-old actor took to Twitter to reveal that his 18-year-old son Zen Feldman was hospitalized after being “badly beaten.” Even worse, this was in what he described as a “hate crime.” Corey wrote to his followers:
“I KNOW U R PROBABLY WONDERING Y U DIDNT HEAR FROM ME ON 22 DAY! THATS CUZ WE HAD A VERY TRAUMATIC DAY. WHAT STARTED OUT AS A POSITIVE DAY TURNED VERY DARK! MY SON ZEN IS IN THE HOSPITAL 2NITE AFTER BEING A VICTIM OF A H8 CRIME! HE WAS AMBUSHED BY 3 GUYS, & BADLY BEATEN..”
What horrible news for a parent.

The Goonies alum said the attack was so bad that his son might not even be alive right now but for someone calling the authorities in time. OMG. Thankfully, he noted Zen was “in stable condition” at this time:
“OUT OF THE 3 BOYS WHO DID THIS 2 HIM, 2 OF THE BOYS WERE PPL HE KNEW MANY YRS. HE WAS SET UP, & THEY EVEN VID TAPED IT W THEIR PHONES. IF THE POLICE HADNT BEEN CALLED, HE MAY NOT B ALIVE 2NITE! HE IS NOW IN STABLE CONDITION THANK GOD!”
Corey then revealed the three attackers were taken into custody after fleeing the scene:
“THE 3 BOYS WHO FLED THE SCENE HAV BEEN FOUND AND R NOW IN CUSTODY FACING MANY CHARGES! THANK GOD 4 THE SPEED & COMPASSION FROM THOSE POLICE OFFICERS! I THANK U 4 SAVING MY BOYS LIFE! HE WILL B OK, BUT THE PSYCHOLOGICAL TRAUMA WILL B TOUGH 2 FACE. PLEASE PRAY 4 ZEN, & ALSO PLS RESPECT R PRIVACY DURING THIS DIFFICULT TIME”
So, so awful. The exact charges the three guys are facing are unknown at this time. But when one fan asked for clarification on what Corey meant by a hate crime, the ’80s icon explained in the comments section:
“Yes that’s what the police said based on the vid. I haven’t seen it. But that’s 1 of the charges.”
What made it a hate crime? He clarified in another comment:
“It’s what the police called it based on the words they used while violently beating him. I won’t repeat. But phone Video goes a long way 2 determining the charges these days.”
Just horrible. Later on, Corey also shared a post from his ex-wife and Zen’s mom Susannah Sprague who asked for “positive energy” amid the teen’s recovery from the attack:
“To know Zen is to love Zen. I may be slightly biased, I wanted to be his mom long before he arrived … and I happen to think he’s one of the best people Ive ever met. I really like who he is & what he stands for. He’s funny, curious & deeply loyal. He wants to love & be loved. He cares about the esoteric & spiritual sides if life. He is my friend, my heart & definitely one of my reasons to live.”
She added:
“He is currently in need of prayers, love, healing energy… whatever positive energy you’ve got in your heart to share. His parents, sister, aunts & uncles, cousins & grand parents THANK YOU in advance.”
What a terrible situation. We are sending light to the Feldman family during this difficult time. And we’re wishing Zen a speedy recovery.
