Cory Monteith's Drug Addiction Was Accompanied By His Struggle With Fame

Fame can be a drug in itself.

And according to friends of the late Cory Monteith, he never quite adjusted to the glittering claws of Hollywood.

While we now know his cause of death to be a lethal mix of heroin and alcohol, sources reveal how the burden of fame could have possibly encouraged his relapses:

“Fame was hard for him. It was something he knew he deserved but somehow he never quite knew how to handle. They [the cast of Glee] worked hard and partied hard. These aren’t high school kids. They are adults who enjoyed the perks of fame.”

But Cory never let his addiction affect his work ethic. Though signs were becoming clear that he needed help back in March, one source insists:

“I never saw him come to work late, lose his temper, not know his line or argue with crew and castmates.”

Not only that, but Cory was always so sweet to everyone he encountered. Though his battle was long and hard and full of struggle, he emitted more positivity than most of Tinsel Town.

And for that — his commitment to kindness and making a positive impact — we will always remember him as one of the brightest.

We hope you have the peace you so deserve now, sweet Cory.
