From the woman who insisted that money can’t buy you class comes the do’s and don’ts of theatre etiquette!!!
Yesterday, we sent a call out to Countess LuAnn de Lesseps for some guidance. We had just received a story out of her native New York about Katherine Heigl being extra rude at a performance of The Book of Mormon. She reportedly not only showed up 20 minutes late and made a raucous getting to her seat, but she actually started smoking an electronic cigarette during the show!
We found that to be a real faux pas, but we wanted it confirmed by the classiest person we knew. Thankfully, the Countess took time out shoot us over an EXCLUSIVE response! Katherine, listen up! This is for you, for next time! The Countess tells us:
“It is proper theatre etiquette for the audience as well as the performers to arrive at the theatre on time. Everyone is aware of curtain time so whether you are a celebrity or not you should look at your ticket and arrive on time to take your seat so you don’t have to disturb people once the show starts. And if you are late, even though the ushers might be seating people, you should tell them that you will stay in the rear of the house or seated in the back until the intermission break and then take to your seats. That is the ‘class’ act!
Regarding sunglasses inside-that is only for post-surgery. No one can see you in a dark theatre anyway and puffing away on an electronic cigarette is as bad as using a cell phone in a theatre. It gets noticed and takes attention away from the performers on stage.”
Preach! Amen to that!
So now you know, Kat. Leave your house 20 minutes earlier and leave the sunglasses at home until you start getting Botox.
CLASSY!!!
