Tragic news for the country world.

Singer Kylie Rae Harris was killed in a car crash on Wednesday while on her way to perform at a country festival in New Mexico.

She was just 30 years old and leaves behind a 6-year-old daughter, Corbie.

According to the Associated Press, there were three vehicles involved in the massive accident on State Road 522. Another driver was also killed — reportedly a 16-year-old — while the third escaped injury. The Sheriff’s Office suspects alcohol was a contributing factor to the crash.

In a statement to Billboard, Harris’ publicist confirmed the sad news of her passing:

“We are heartbroken to confirm that Kylie Rae Harris passed away in a car accident last night. We have no further details to share, and ask for privacy for her family at this time. Everyone that knew Kylie knew how much she loved her family and, beyond that, how much she loved music.

The best tribute to her unmatched enthusiasm for both is to spread as much love as you can today, and listen to music that fully inspires you.”

The Big Ol’ Heartache singer was driving to Taos, New Mexico where she was scheduled to perform at the Big Barn Dance Music Festival.

An active social media user, Kylie Rae was documenting her entire trip.

In her final tweet, she wrote:

“Fuel range is 46 miles and I’m 36 from the nearest gas station

Dear baby Jesus please don’t let me get stranded in NM”

That did not happen unfortunately; on her Instagram Story she revealed she was able to fuel up and make it another few hours.

But in one last message to fans, Kylie Rae shared a haunting story about her family who used to live in the area — and who had all since passed on.

While driving, she said to the camera:

“For those of you who don’t know, I spent the last 20 years of my life coming to Taos with my dad and my sister. My grandparents lived here, my uncle still lives here.

But basically literally everybody that was here has passed away, except for my uncle and including my dad…”

After gathering herself, she continued:

“But like, driving these roads today — I’ve been driving 12 hours — you would think that’s so exhausting and boring, but like the last couple of hours driving through the mountains and just, like, remembering my place in the backseat as a little kid when my dad would make these treks here… I started getting really sad.

All of a sudden these random cows showed up in the middle of the road.”

The cows held personal significance for Kylie Rae. She explained:

“It might sound crazy, but like there was this time, something we always talked about, with my dad and my sister. I was in the backseat, I was like 10 or 12, and we hit something really hard and I popped up my head and was like, ‘What was that??’

And my dad said, ‘cow guard.’ But really he had hit a cow. (I know that’s very depressing.)

But just the fact that I started, when I was on my trek through the mountains I started crying, and I was sad and these cows appeared out of nowhere…

We grieve in different ways, but… I don’t know.”

And that was the last she shared.

Right after that she was killed on that highway.

Were the cows an omen? A message? Just some cows??

In any case, the singer will be missed. Our hearts go out to her family and loved ones.
