And, we thought the loss of the panda live feed was the harshest thing to come out of the government shutdown!
But, this picture pretty sums up just how we’re all truly affected.
As we all know, the National Zoo in Washington, D.C. is “temporarily closed” because of the government shutdown.
While the men and women on Capitol Hill are stubbornly hashing out their petty bipartisan squabbles, not only have thousands of people been without work and pay for almost two weeks now, but as you can see by the (above) photo, it’s greatly affecting the children.
And, we couldn’t be more depressed.
It’s just a picture of a gate, blocking the entrance to the zoo, with a big sign that reads:
“The Zoo is temporarily closed.”
…Beneath the sign, hanging onto the gate like a prisoner clinging to the bars of his cell, yearning to pass through them, is a young child, wearing an animal ear hat, as he stares wistfully into the distance.
Dead leaves lie motionless in front of him…..
No cute animals for you today, Billy Everytoddler.
Have you no shame, U.S. Government?? Have you no shame!!!
