Cyndi Lauper Explains Why She's Performing In North Carolina Despite Anti-LGBT Laws -- Does She Have A Point??

Trans people just wanna have access to the bathroom. They just wanna.
Cyndi Lauper is without a doubt one of the most influential gay icons of the 1980s, which is why some fans questioned her decision to not cancel her shows in North Carolina despite the state’s anti-transgender bathroom laws.
The pink lady already explained that she was going to donate all proceeds from her concerts to local LGBT-friendly charities, and now she’s speaking out again!

Cyndi stopped by Late Night with Seth Meyers on Thursday to share her take on the controversy, and she actually made some really good points!
For one thing, she believes it’s more supportive to physically be in North Carolina and to rally against resident bigot Gov. Pat McCrory than to voice your concerns from the sidelines.
In fact, the True Colors singer even shared a touching story about how deciding to play shows in Florida when Trayvon Martin was murdered actually helped the community!
We still think musicians cancelling their gigs sends a strong message, but we’re glad artists like Cyndi are willing to slum it down South for the betterment of our transgender peers!
Ch-ch-check out Cyndi’s politically charged Late Night appearance (above)!!!
