On Friday, Cynthia Nixon publicly announced that her son Samuel Joseph Mozes (called Seph) is transgender.
In a touching Instagram post, the Sex and the City actress shared the (above) photo from the 21-year-old’s college graduation from the University of Chicago.

The candidate for New York governor wrote:
“I’m so proud of my son Samuel Joseph Mozes (called Seph) who graduated college this month. I salute him and everyone else marking today’s #TransDayOfAction. #TDOA”
Samuel was born Samantha Mozes in November 1996.
The 52-year-old thespian shares 15-year-old son Charles Ezekiel Mozes with ex-husband Danny Mozes, and 7-year-old son Max Ellington Nixon-Marinoni with wife Christine Marinoni.
Friday, June 22 marks the 14th annual Trans Day of Action.
