Daiquiri Factory In Washington Under Fire For "Date Grape Koolaid" Drink! Their Response To Customer Protests Will Disgust You!

date grape kool aid bar protests washington
Annnnnd this is the moment where the world realizes that rape culture is everywhere and a whole lot of people treat it like it’s nothing.
Who in their right mind would approve a drink called the ‘Date Grape’ at a bar where date rape is a very real and scary possibility??
The answer, of course, is the Daiquiri Factory — a new bar in Spokane, Washington. The Date Grape Koolaid was one of 15 special drinks listed on a menu posted to the bar├óΓé¼Γäós Facebook on Friday, and they were met with protests the very next day!
Oh, and well into the weekend it seemed like the bar was ENJOYING the attention!
Online, commenters seemed to be pretty evenly split between anger and support. The bar’s management staff itself has NOT responded for comment, but tried to explain themselves on Facebook with a link to a MADtv sketch about a ├óΓé¼┼ôdate grape├óΓé¼┬¥ drink.
Basically they said to get over it with this disgusting response:

It’s The Name Of A Drink.. Not meant to offend.. for you to overuse your imagination! Just like everything in life.. your either going to like it or don’t.. We all can look for something to make a big deal about.. There is a thing called fun.. and a thing called.. reading way off and beyond the lines.. That’s where your imagination took you.. We didn’t! Failure is not a option.. but easily achieved from people that Think negative.. and are smart enough to show it!

Wow, writing is NOT their strong suit, but the message is well received — they don’t care.
They even said they were selling out of the drink and said to have sold “over 10 gallons.”
Interestingly enough, Kraft Foods Group, which owns Kool-Aid, is stepping in and is working to “address the situation ASAP.”
Here’s what they said:

“We at Kraft are appalled. Kool-Aid does not support or condone this drink, and finds its name to be highly insensitive to a serious issue. This blatant misuse of the Kool-Aid trademark is offensive to so many, including us, and we are making it our top priority to address the situation ASAP.”

So fab to hear!
Sexual assault is a SERIOUS and wide-spread problem. What it doesn’t need in an age of rape culture are people making light of it like this.
