It’s finally here, people! After 10 weeks of booty shaking and injuries, we’ve finally made it to the Dancing With The Stars finale, which means it’s time to find out who’ll be taking home the Mirror Ball Trophy!
The night was filled with special appearances from artists like Iggy Azalea and reigning champ Amber Riley, but at the end of the day it was all about the finalists! And what good is a dancing competition without some actual dancing?
Amy Purdy, Meryl Davis, and Candace Cameron Bure all had ONE last chance to strut their stuff for the judges, but seeing as they JUST did two routines the day before, they only had 24 hours to learn a brand new dance!
Amy and Derek Hough were the first to take the dance floor for their cha cha/Argentine tango fusion, and just like every other week they left us in awe! The judges praised the paralympian for her amazing journey thus far and they capped off her inspirational season by awarding her with a perfect 30 for her final routine!
Meryl did the impossible this season, and we’re not talking about her incredible streak of perfect scores! We’re talking about her amazing ability to turn Maksim Chmerkovskiy into a total teddy bear! But despite showing his softer side this season, the DWTS vet seemed determined to win his first Mirror Ball Trophy! Meryl rose to the challenge and earned yet ANOTHER perfect 30 for her foxtrot/cha cha fusion!
Last but certainly not least, Candace took the dance floor to prove that she’s more than just a dark horse in this competition! She certainly delivered as she and Mark Ballas earned a 27 for their quickstep/samba fusion, but in all honesty it didn’t really seem like Candace cared to much about the score! In fact, after the routine she said she was thrilled to just finally be at the finish line!
So the dancing was great and all, but let’s get down to brass tacks and talk about what’s REALLY important. Who won?! Well at then end it came down to the olympians Amy and Meryl, and the Mirror Ball Trophy went to…
Meryl and Maks!!!
We can’t say we’re too surprised here, especially when you consider she has a gold medal in ice dancing! Oh, and did we mention her INSANE streak of perfect scores?? Seriously, we can’t remember the last time she scored lower than a 10!
We’re so happy for Meryl and especially Maks who finally got his first win! And while Amy and Candace didn’t walk away with the trophy, it was amazing to watch both of their journeys to the finals! Congrats, everyone!
Watch the routines (below)!
