We certainly can understand his frustration, given the amount of time and work he invested in the series – not to mention the better part of his childhood!
While the Harry Potter saga has been nominated for Oscars for its technical and craft achievements, it has never once won an Academy Award, and star Daniel Radcliffe recently revealed that he was frustrated that the last installment, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2, was snubbed in the Best Picture category!
He explains:
“I don’t think the Oscars like commercial films, or kids’ films, unless they’re directed by Martin Scorsese. I was watching Hugo the other day and going, ‘Why is this nominated and we’re not?’ I was slightly miffed. There’s a certain amount of snobbery. It’s kind of disheartening. I never thought I’d care. But it would’ve been nice to have some recognition, just for the hours put in.”
Understandable! Especially when the series is so universally loved and well-received by critics!
