Let the controversy begin!
On Wednesday, Orange Is The New Black star Danielle Brooks sent out a tweet describing a potentially racist encounter from a recent first class flight.
According to Danielle, a gate attendant exclaimed “lucky you” once they realized she was flying first class. The insinuation is that Brooks had never flown first class before, or that her seat assignment was out of the norm or a stroke of luck.

The big issue here is that D.B.’s race might be the reason for the attendant’s comment, a theory that many fans are divided on. While some people think the remark was an offhand comment, others believe it’s an example of “casual racism” due to the disgusting bias of some people that women of color can’t afford first class.
Check out the actress’ original tweet about the situation (below)!
I hate when gate agents look at me like I’ve never flown first class and say “You’re in first class, lucky you!”├░┼╕╦£ΓÇÖ really tho

Ugh. We bet Danielle has encountered gross situations like these one too many times before!
Despite the outrage on the beauty’s part, the Twitterverse remains divided on what really went down.
@CarmineSabia @thedanieb Say man, I suggest u stop telling black folks how they should feel about certain things. Ur not qualified to do so

.@thedanieb except, anyone who CAN fly First class IS lucky, aren’t they?

@thedanieb Girl take a break. People are dying in shootings everyday and you want to cause a ruckus about being faux micro aggressed. Chill

@thedanieb The expectation that black women are broke is pervasive. I have perfected the dead eyed “You’re not worth my time” face.
