We’ll be VERY curious to see if these two will be able to replace the magic between the two leads that made this show so great to begin with!
As we’ve reported, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit as we know it will be gone forever after its upcoming thirteenth season, as Christopher Meloni has left the police procedural, and Mariska Hargitay has taken a reduced role for one final year, which has left the door open for two new leads to come in.
And after a grueling search, it appears the final ruling is in: Cold Case‘s Danny Pino and Chase‘s Kelli Giddish are the new Benson and Stabler!
NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt says in a statement:
“Kelli and Danny are two great actors who will join a proven cast headed by Mariska Hargitay as this exceptional series heads into a very promising 13th season.”
And series creator Dick Wolf agrees:
“I’m very pleased that we have two amazing actors joining the cast. I know this combination will give us the opportunity to explore the world of SVU with new eyes.”
All right, guys!
Those are going to be some tough shoes to fill!
Fingers crossed that lightning will strike twice!
