This is disturbing news.
The man behind SNL’s best Bill Clinton and Al Gore impressions, Darrell Hammond, is admitting to a lot of his past problems in his new book – God, If You’re Not Up There, I’m F*cked!
In his memoir, Darrell admits to drinking, using crack, and cutting himself to mask the pain of a damaged childhood. The revered comic writes:
I kept a pint of Remy in my desk at work. The drinking calmed my nerves and quieted the disturbing images that sprang into my head. When drinking didn’t work, I cut myself.
I’d started adding an obscene amount of cocaine to my binges. I had to be creative about how I did it without other people catching on or letting it interfere with the work. At least too much.
Sad face. We’re always so upset when we hear people resorting to self-inflicting pain because they can’t see another way.
Darrell chose to pull himself up for air though and went into treatment. After successfully finishing all of it, he seems to be doing much better today. He’s currently working with Will Ferrell on FunnyorDie.com!! Good for him!
