Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters has decided to jump on the anti-Glee train, and while promoting his band’s new documentary, Back and Forth, at the SXSW festival, he lashed out at the series and its creator, Ryan Murphy, for apparently pressuring various artists to allow their music to be featured!
He explains:
├óΓé¼┼ôIt├óΓé¼Γäós every band├óΓé¼Γäós right, you shouldn├óΓé¼Γäót have to do fucking Glee. And then the guy who created Glee is so offended that we├óΓé¼Γäóre not, like, begging to be on his fucking show├óΓé¼┬ª fuck that guy for thinking anybody and everybody should want to do Glee. I watched 10 minutes. It├óΓé¼Γäós not my thing. The Glee guy, what a fucking jerk. Slash was the first one. He wanted to do Guns ├óΓé¼╦£n├óΓé¼Γäó Roses and Slash is like, ├óΓé¼╦£I hate fucking musicals. It├óΓé¼Γäós worse than Grease.├óΓé¼Γäó Then [Murphy’s] like, ├óΓé¼╦£Well, of course he├óΓé¼Γäód say that, he├óΓé¼Γäós a washed up ol├óΓé¼Γäó rock star, that├óΓé¼Γäós what they fucking do.├óΓé¼Γäó And then Kings of Leon say, ├óΓé¼╦£No, we don├óΓé¼Γäót want to be on your show.├óΓé¼Γäó And then he├óΓé¼Γäós like, ├óΓé¼╦£Snotty little assholes├óΓé¼┬ª├óΓé¼Γäó And it├óΓé¼Γäós just like, Dude, maybe not everyone loves Glee. Me included.├óΓé¼┬¥
Whoa! Tell us how you really feel!
While we agree that it’s every band’s right to say yes or no, we frankly can’t understand why it’s such an issue for some! All Ryan Murphy is trying to do is create a new market for young viewers to be exposed to music that they might not normally be!
But to each his own, we guess! Their music, their call.
