Not a great day for the Beckham bunch.
On Monday, the judge overseeing David Beckham’s $25 million lawsuit against a hooker and a magazine publisher he insisted defamed him by printing a slanderous story about him and the hooker threw out the case, calling Beckham’s life “public interest.”
Back in October, In Touch Weekly, a magazine under Bauer Publishing, ran spread about David soliciting sex from this girl twice, in New York and London, for $10K a romp.
After hearing both sides of the case, Judge Manuel L. Real made the sensual ruling that:
* Beckham is a public figure and the details of his private life are in the public interest;
* Irma Nici, the hooker involved with the case, has a right to make free speech; and
* Plaintiff (Beckham) has not demonstrated properly that the publisher demonstrated clear and convincing evidence it acted with malice.
As Judge Real handed down his finding, he added:
├óΓé¼┼ôWhile plaintiff points out red flags in Bauer├óΓé¼Γäós story, the failure to investigate doesn├óΓé¼Γäót establish malice.”
Somehow, we don’t think this is fair. If we were Becks, we’d appeal this ruling…and fast! Something just doesn’t add up for us.
