Who needs wool or cotton? Dax Shepard has a brand new, sustainably-sourced textile for all his sweater needs!
On Monday’s episode of his Armchair Expert podcast, the 49-year-old revealed that he’s getting into the sweater-making game. But the story here is the material he’s using! It’s… HIS OWN BACK HAIR.
Uhhh that’s certainly a choice! It all started when the Baby Mama actor noticed an onslaught of “tiny little hairs” which he said his and Kristen Bell’s 11-year-old daughter Lincoln offered to shave off. Simple, right? Well, when he realized how soft the hair was, instead of throwing it away, he decided to begin collecting it to make his own version of “cashmere.” He said:
“I am making cashmere now … I have a million tiny little hairs on my back — I’ve been noticing it in the new gym. I can see it in my reflection and I hate them so then I was complaining about them and Lincoln said, ‘Do you want me to shave your back?’ And I said, ‘I would love that,’ and Lincoln shaved my entire back.”
What a trooper! LOLz!

Dax continued:
“I was sitting on the edge of the bathtub, and this little tiny pile of hair was done afterwards and I picked it up to throw it in the trash and I went, ‘Oh my god, that’s the softest hair I’ve ever felt in my life.’ I had the girls feel it and we all agreed, ‘That’s cashmere.’ So, I am now collecting it and one day I hope to produce a cashmere [sweater].”
OMG! That is certainly something!
Dax noted that he’s keeping it in “a certain spot so [he] can grow it and then get it spun into wool.” We’re not sure exactly how much back hair he grows, but it sounds like it’ll take him a while to get what he needs…
