Heartbreaking!
Dean McDermott and Tori Spelling have had their share of troubles recently, but this isn’t the first time that Dean has experienced both family drama and trauma!
New information has been revealed that show Dean making an extremely tough decision back in 2006 when he divorced his now ex wife Mary Jo Eustace. The former couple had adopted a daughter named Lola, but when Dean left Eustace for Tori Spelling – he agreed to give up all paternal rights of a daughter he loved so much!
The information was discovered in court documents of Dean’s divorce proceedings where, in a sworn declaration, Dean said:
“The birth and pending adoption of Lola in July 2004 was incredible, not only because she is a beautiful healthy girl, but I believed this was something that would finally make [Mary Jo] happy after several miscarriages, fertility drugs and a failed adoption in Canada. I fell instantly in love with Lola…”
However that joy was short lived after Dean decided to leave that marriage for Tori Spelling only one month later. Although it wasn’t an easy decision, it also meant that Dean was leaving the adopted daughter that he adored. In the statements he said:
“[I] agreed that I would relinquish my legal rights to Lola, however, based on the fact [Mary Jo] was concerned our separation would jeopardize the adoption.”
Mary Jo Eustace’s declaration also shared her own feeling of happiness of meeting her adopted daughter. She said:
├óΓé¼┼ôOn July 7, 2005, Lola Elizabeth McDermott was born. This was an incredible experience. We received Lola when she was one hour old. [Dean and Mary Jo’s son] Jack held her first. He had tears in his eyes. I spent the next day, July 8, with the birth mother. We bonded incredible and shared life stories. Jack is incredibly bonded with Lola.├óΓé¼┬¥
It wasn’t too long before Dean then dropped the bombshell news on his ex wife. She said:
“Dean McDermott told me he was in love with Tori Spelling, that she was his soulmate, that she loved him unconditionally, and that they had sat down and made a plan. He then said, ‘We will take care of the kids, and money will not be an issue.’ I was crying uncontrollably, and asked Dean McDermott if he was going to divorce me and marry Tori Spelling. Petitioner responded, ‘Yes.’ [Later he] signed a release which has been provided to the adoption attorney pursuant to which he has waived all parental rights to Lola.”
Such a sad story!
We wonder if Dean has continued his relationship with his once adopted daughter Lola, and how their relationship is these days.
It would make this story even sadder if they weren’t close considering the connection they seemed to have forged when Dean first adopted her!
Life can be so hard sometimes.
