Talk about a revelation!
Demi Lovato recently was in New York City at Logo TV‘s first Trailblazing event, and as she presented an award to Orange Is the New Black, she shared something she’s never shared before!
The music superstar explained that her grandfather was gay, and definitely was a trailblazer for coming out in the tumultuous 1960’s!
Here’s what she said:
“I’ve never spoken about this before, but my grandfather was a trailblazer himself. He was brave enough to come out in the 1960s, and I feel that a lot of my spirit has come from him. He passed away a few years later and I only wish he could have been able to see all the progress that has been made…It’s such an honor to be welcomed and embraced by the LGBT community, so thank you very much.”
Aww!
In just a few words, Demi has touched our hearts in a BIG way! It takes a special person to do that in such a succinct manner!
We definitely wished we could have seen Demi say that in person, and luckily everyone will be able to on Thursday at 9 p.m. ET on Logo TV!
It’s so obvious that amazingness definitely are traits that Demi shares with her grandfather! Props to Demi for carrying on his memory in such a fantastic way!
