Dental Student Dead After Nightmare Stay In ‘Fake ICU’ With No On-Site Doctors!

Dental Student Dead After Nightmare Stay In ‘Fake ICU’ With No On-Site Doctors!

A dental student’s family has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the Connecticut hospital where he died… and the reason why may shock you.

In August 2024, Conor Hylton arrived at the hospital with abdominal pain and vomiting, according to a legal complaint obtained by People. Per the doc, he was admitted with “pancreatitis, dehydration, metabolic acidosis, and alcohol withdrawal,” and as the hours passed by, his condition “continued to change and deteriorate.” By 4:40 a.m. the next day, Conor’s condition took a turn for the worse. The complaint reads:

“Mr. Hylton slid down in bed, his eyes rolled back and he became unresponsive and exhibited seizure-like activity, vomited, became bradycardic and code was called.”

That’s so incredibly terrifying. And sadly, his condition turned fatal:

“He was intubated, but he could not be resuscitated, and he was pronounced dead.”

Such a tragic end for such a bright young man. But things only became more challenging for his family to accept once they caught wind of the care he was receiving.

According to the complaint, Conor’s death pronouncement was said to be made by an in-person doctor. However, according to reports, the reality is it was actually made by a “’tele-health’ provider on a video screen.”

WHAT?! Omg… And things get worse…

The complaint states that a call was made to an on-site doctor to intubate Conor, but “the provider summoned to perform the intubation did not know how to find the ICU and had to find someone else to show him where it was located. This led to a delay in [care].”

A sobering expert medical opinion was included in the complaint:

“No on-site doctor assessed Mr. Hylton from the time he was admitted to the ICU until after he exhibited seizure activity at 4:30 a.m.”

Oh that is just so awful…

According to the complaint obtained by, the Milford Campus’ ICU is a “tele-ICU meaning there are no qualified ICU intensivists on site.” It goes on:

“ICU intensivists are located off-site at a centralized remote location, purportedly monitoring critically ill patients through a video screen.”

Uhhh, isn’t the point of an ICU to receive… you know… intensive care? Not to be monitored virtually??

In a statement the the outlet, a representative for the medical facility said:

“Yale New Haven Health is aware of this lawsuit and is committed to providing the safest and highest quality of care possible, however, we are unable to comment on pending litigation.”

Faxon Law Group lawyer Joel T. Faxon, who is representing the Hylton family, questioned the facility in a press release:

“It’s alarming to think in a supposedly intensive care setting: Where is a doctor? Where are the nurses? How does the emergency doctor not know how to get to the ICU to provide life saving care?”

Seriously!

Faxon further confirmed neither Conor nor the Hylton family were informed there weren’t any actual in-person doctors in the ICU:

“If the Hylton family knew that their son was being placed in a fake icu with no doctor present they would have demanded he be transferred to a hospital that could properly treat him. They were never given that option and, tragically, Conor died as a result.”

What a nightmare of a situation!!!

What are your reactions, Perezcious readers??
