We know that most cities have a pretty serious stray dog problem but jeez! We had no idea it was this bad!
Packs of wild, abandoned dogs are literally all over Detroit, roaming in packs of 20! Because of the city’s financial troubles, the town’s people are not the only ones suffering.
The Humane Society of the United States director visited Detroit recently, saying:
“It was almost post-apocalyptic, where there are no businesses, nothing except people in houses and dogs running around. The suffering of animals goes hand in hand with the suffering of people.”
One cop even saw several dogs in the flooded basement of a home who had its pipes stolen by thieves. The problem is that 70% of dogs brought into shelters are euthanized.
What’s worse is the city’s animal control department’s budget has been cut!
C’mon, Detroit! Figure out a plan of action and FAST!!
