New momma Diane Kruger got candid with in a cover story for PorterEdit about her journey to motherhood, including why she thought she was “too selfish” for children in the past:
“I didn’t think I wanted children for a long time. I was too selfish. But by the time I got to about 35, I thought, yes, I probably do want one.”

The 42-year-old actress opened up about not being ready for motherhood until a few years ago, because she hadn’t found the right person yet (sorry Guillaume Canet and Joshua Jackson), but it seems like she’s found it in partner and new dad Norman Reedus:
“But then you have to wait for the right person to come along.”
Norman has a teenage son from a previous relationship, and seems to be adjusting well to having an infant again:
“He’s so calm, and he teaches me a lot, because he’s done it before. There’s definitely something to be said for being with someone who is doing it for the second time.”
And as for getting married? It’s not off the table, but it’s not on her mind either:
“Never say never. I would have a party. I’d like to wear a nice dress. But I’m not religious, so that aspect of marriage doesn’t mean anything to me. There’s obviously a financial security that comes with marriage, but I’m financially independent – I don’t need anyone for that.”
For now, she wants to keep things quiet about her relationship and daughter:
“I will never talk about my relationship ever again…I feel like I share enough of my life with everyone. Some things have got to stay more concealed now.”
