This week, Sarah Palin heard what no child of a political party ever wants to hear — she was “a mistake”!
During his first interview since receiving a heart transplant, former Vice President Dick Cheney expressed unmistakable regret for John McCain‘s decision to pick Palin as his running mate in 2008.
He explained:
“That one. I don├óΓé¼Γäót think was well handled … The test to get on that small list has to be, ├óΓé¼╦£Is this person capable of being president of the United States?├óΓé¼Γäó├óΓé¼┬¥
Ouch! Clearly, he doesn’t feel that she could be capable of fulfilling the duties of the POTUS, but wasn’t trying to attack her personally — he was simply being honest! George W. Bush‘s right-hand man continued to explain:
“I like Governor Palin. I’ve met her. I know her. She – attractive candidate. But based on her background, she’d only been governor for, what, two years. I don’t think she passed that test…of being ready to take over. And I think that was a mistake.”
For his part, Senator McCain has defended his decision after hearing Cheney’s comments and told Fox and Friends:
“Look, I respect the vice president. He and I had strong disagreements as to whether we should torture people or not. I don’t think we should have. But the fact is, I am proud of Sarah Palin, I am proud of the job she did, I am proud of the job she continues to do. So, everybody has their own views, and I respect those views, but I am proud of what we did.”
Even Cheney’s daughter, Liz, stepped forward in support of Palin and tweeted that she was “more qualified than Obama and Biden combined.”
For the record, Joe Biden was a U.S. Senator for 36 years before he became the Vice President of the United States. Sarah Palin was a governor for two years before becoming a vice presidential candidate.
