Dick Van Dyke narrowly escaped the terrifying fury of the Malibu wildfires!
On Thursday, the 99-year-old actor (happy birthday, btw!) appeared as part of a Today show segment covering the devastating wildfires that erupted in Malibu this week. And in the grave television spot, he detailed his harrowing escape! He told reporters:
“It was coming over the hill, you could see it. And oh my god, we got out of here.”

In footage captured by his doorbell camera, he and his wife Arlene can be seen fleeing their home with their pets to steer clear of the fires. But being almost 100 years old, the Mary Poppins alum “exhausted” himself during the withdrawal, and he was reduced to CRAWLING to safety. OMG!! He explained:
“I was trying to crawl to the car. I had exhausted myself. I couldn’t get up.”
How TERRIFYING! Imagine being in that situation — fires closing in and unable to run! And especially at his age, no less!
Thankfully, watchful neighbors sprung to his rescue:
“Three neighbors came and carried me out. They came back and put out a little fire in the guest house and saved me.”
Wow!
Thank goodness! Watch the full clip (below):
We’re so glad he’s okay!
Reactions, Perezcious readers??
