Phelps won the 200-meter butterfly AND he set a new world record!
Laszlo Cseh of Hungary took the silver and Takeshi Matsuda of Japan got the bronze.
Michael is on a mission to break Mark Spitz’s record of becoming the athlete to win the most gold medals at one Olympic games.

His win on Wednesday already set a new Olympic record. Michael Phelps is now the Olympic athlete with the most gold medals ever – he has TEN.
The 200-meter butterfly win broke a tie with Mark Spitz, Carl Lewis and two others for most golds.
