Seals Arrive On Alaskan Shores With Unknown Disease

An unknown disease has driven seals onto the shores of Alaska.
The poor seals are covered in lesions on their flippers and in their mouths.
Nearly half of the over 100 seals to arrive have died.
Scientists have no idea what the disease is.
One researcher said:

“Forty-six of the animals were dead when found, or died shortly thereafter.”

After studying the dead animals they found the lesions were on their internal organs as well.
Researchers are still unsure if the disease is an isolated incident or widespread.
We hope all the seals get better soon.
And also that it’s not transmissible to humans. (Which scientists say could be possible.)
