In a new interview with Vegas magazine, the 43-year-old reveals her personal beauty philosophy and how she wants to inspire others to embrace their own version.
She’s also a little too self-deprecating, if you ask us:
“I think natural beauty is great and I wish I had that. Like, ├óΓé¼╦£Oh, I woke up like this.’ But the truth is, I’m an ordinary blonde girl from a farming town in Michigan. And I don’t want to be ordinary.”
Dita, WUT?! You do have natural beauty! And you’re NEVER ordinary!
The performer explains how her book, Your Beauty Mark: The Ultimate Guide to Eccentric Glamour , can help people feel more glamorous:
“You can create glamour├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥and this book is a step-by-step how-to. Even if you don’t want to look like a 1940s-era movie star, this is about designing your own life and crafting your own myths. And the book is full of my friends who aren’t Victoria’s Secret supermodels, but have nevertheless gone from modest beauties to birds of paradise. I talk about things like “showgirl” makeup and show people how you can incorporate a little bit of the showgirl thing into your look without going fully into it. Even people who have no intention of doing a burlesque show can put these tips to use.”
And in case you doubted her commitment to always looking fabulous, know that she wears a skirt over her yoga pants during gym days:
“It’s my duty to stand for something. I once ran into a boyfriend’s ex-girlfriend when I wasn’t dressed up and I thought to myself, I’m never making that mistake again.”
Ha! Everyone can probably relate to the whole awkward run-in situation.
Naturally Dita talks Vegas with the mag and floats around the idea of a residency:
“I love how Las Vegas encourages people to get dressed up and make an effort. I feel that Vegas is historically a glamorous place, so I love getting really dressed up when I go there. [A residency is] the best thing to do showbiz-wise.”
