It must be magical!
DJ Whiteshadow, one of the featured producers on Born This Way, revealed what it was like working with Lady GaGa. Calling her new single, Government Hooker, a “beast” of a song, he had nothing but praise for the GaGaloo. He said:
[Born This Way] is not a pop album; it’s a pop masterpiece of music. If there was no category of pop music, you wouldn’t call it pop music.
We were in this studio in Vegas, and I was playing some hip-hop stuff [for GaGa’s label boss Vince Herbert], and I ran across this [old beat I had made], and we were talking about faster songs, so I sped it up and I played it for Vince. He was like, ‘Whoa.’ She walked in, and I played it for her and [producer] Fernando [Garibay]. She laid it out in two seconds. She sang over the melody and tuned it up and put the chorus in. She finished it super quick.”
Going into more detail about GaGa’s amazingness, he added:
“The guy that├óΓé¼Γäós actually talking, that├óΓé¼Γäós her security guard. We were sitting there thinking how to make a computerized voice, so we were like, ‘Let├óΓé¼Γäós get Pete in here. He├óΓé¼Γäós got a super-thick Dutch accent, and he├óΓé¼Γäós trying to read off paper. It was insane, and he just talks like that.
That├óΓé¼Γäós what it├óΓé¼Γäós like working with GaGa. It├óΓé¼Γäós like a f├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ing supernova. When she walks into a room, things explode. She thinks of sh├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ that I can├óΓé¼Γäót comprehend. It doesn├óΓé¼Γäót make sense to me, and I├óΓé¼Γäóm a creative person.”
He then went on to speak about how he sees Lady GaGa as a person and an artist.
“Working with her is totally different than anyone else I├óΓé¼Γäóve ever done anything with. She├óΓé¼Γäós the most hands-on person I├óΓé¼Γäóve ever run into. She could walk into Steve Jobs├óΓé¼Γäó office and tell him he├óΓé¼Γäós doing Apple wrong, and he├óΓé¼Γäód listen. As a producer, it├óΓé¼Γäós super cool to be with somebody who generally cares and is fully involved.”
And that’s why her music is so awesome! We know the rest of Born This Way is going to be incredible!
