Django Unchained Premiere Canceled Out Of Respect For Sandy Hook Elementary Victims

In the wake of such an unthinkable national tragedy, some of us find ourselves wondering what precisely we can do to help!
Director Quentin Tarantino and producer Harvey Weinstein may be thousands of miles away from the victims and their families, but they feel the least they can do is cancel Tuesday’s premiere of their violent film Django Unchained.
The much-anticipated Jamie Foxx and Leonardo DiCaprio flick will still open wide on Christmas Day, but they rightfully feel there’s no need to celebrate the film’s violence in an ultra-decadent fashion while so many families are still mourning the massacre of teachers and young children.
Tom Cruise‘s Jack Reacher and Billy Crystal‘s Parental Guidance also canceled premieres and modified their trailers out of respect for the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary shootings.
Hollywood is often a money-first town — it’s nice to be reminded that even the biggest movie moguls are human beings too.
