This Man's Legs & Hands Had To Be Amputated After A Dog Lick, And We Will NEVER FEEL SAFE AGAIN!!!

You know how people always tell you dog’s mouths are cleaner than ours? You will never hear it the same way again after reading about Greg Manteufel.
The poor guy “loves dogs” as his wife Dawn told The Washington Post and didn’t give a second thought to the eight different ones he was around before he got sick.
That is, until doctors told him he had contracted Capnocytophaga Canimorsus from being licked by one.

The bacteria, which is found in many healthy dogs and cats, causes sepsis in the human body and can be transmitted through bites.
Greg first began showing bruising all over his body, “like somebody beat him up with a baseball bat” according to Dawn. Quickly after he went into septic shock.
[WARNING: Slightly Graphic Descriptions Of Medical Procedures]
At the hospital, doctors had to move fast, first amputating Greg’s feet — then had to perform a second surgery removing his legs above the kneecaps.
Later they had to remove his fingers and most of his palms.
The damage is all over his body, and as his family’s GoFundMe describes, “he will need plastic surgery to rebuild a new healthy nose.”
Greg is remarkably remaining stoic throughout the ordeal, as Dawn says:

“He told the doctors, ‘Do what you have to do to keep me alive.’ There’s no negativity from him so far… He said, ‘It is what it is, so we have to move forward.'”

Meanwhile we are going to be having a heart attack every time we hear a bark from now on!
Be safe out there, everyone!
