Everyone is feeling the burn during this summer scorcher but how do you protect your pooch from getting a bit too toasty?
To protect your dog from sunburn, follow a few simple rules keep them happy in the sun!
For starters, keep your pets INDOORS during the peak heat hours from 10 am to 3 pm.
If you must bring your pooch outside, place protective clothing on your pet. Any pink areas (nose, ears, underside/belly) are susceptible to sunburn so protecting those areas is key.
Dog-specific sunscreen is welcomed as well. When checking out sunscreens, a SPF of at least 15 is required.
Lastly, your dog’s fur makes a great defense against the sun. Keeping your pooch’s hair long and dry will go a long way.
