The Los Angeles coroner’s office ruled today that Don Cornelius‘s death was caused by a self-inflicted gun shot wound to the head.
Officials made the determination after Cornelius’s autopsy on last Friday. Police ruled out foul play when they discovered Cornelius.
His son, Tony Cornelius, called the police when he received a phone call from his father.
Tony said the following in a statement thanking supporters:
We thank all the well-wishers and the fans who have supported the `Soul Train’ legacy. Love, Peace and Soul.
R.I.P. Don Cornelius.
