Trump Plans On Paying For Border Wall With 20% Import Tax On Mexico -- And Even Republicans Think It's A Bad Idea!

Well, at least Donald Trump finally answered the question — though it seems to be a pretty stupid answer.
After Drumpf doubled down on his Border Wall talk on Wednesday, Mexico’s government once again stood firm that they had no intention of paying for the pointless structure.
Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto even canceled his scheduled meeting with the POTUS over the issue.

Well, not only did The Donald try to save face by saying the cancelation was mutual, which isn’t a thing, he also FINALLY revealed his master plan to get Mexico to pay for the wall.
He’s going to put a 20 percent tax on imported goods from Mexico.
Press Secretary and Dippin’ Dots ice cream antagonist Sean Spicer explained:

“By doing it that we can do $10 billion a year and easily pay for the wall just through that mechanism alone. That’s really going to provide the funding.”

The thing is, a tax on the imported goods is all but guaranteed to generate an increase on prices to the consumer here in the U.S.
Meaning in essence that once again the American people will be paying for the wall.

When asked this obvious question by reporters, Spicer responded:

“I’m not going to get into it.”

Great dodge, Sean. Man, he could learn a thing or two from Kellyanne Conway.
Even Republicans seem to think this tax is a terrible idea. South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham tweeted:

Border security yes, tariffs no. Mexico is 3rd largest trading partner. Any tariff we can levy they can levy. Huge barrier to econ growth /1

Simply put, any policy proposal which drives up costs of Corona, tequila, or margaritas is a big-time bad idea. Mucho Sad. (2)

And Texas Senator John Cornyn didn’t seem too on board either:

We expect all the Republicans to fall in line on this soon, whether they think it’s a bad idea or not. After all, even Trump’s most vocal GOP detractors — Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan, Marco Rubio — have all come to heel eventually.
We’re not sure exactly how that works, but we’re going to have to guess their desire to “win” outweighs their conviction?
Anyway, that’s the big secret plan, apparently.
