Trump snoozes, Knicks lose!
Donald Trump made a very high-profile appearance at the NBA Finals on Monday night to cheer on his hometown New York Knicks, but it’s not exactly his courtside enthusiasm that has everybody talking. Instead, social media users are having a field day after cameras appeared to catch the prez dozing off during one of the biggest basketball games of the year!!
The Knicks entered Game 3 of the NBA Finals hoping to take complete control of the series, but things didn’t exactly go according to plan. The San Antonio Spurs managed to pull out a huge win, cutting New York’s series lead to 2-1 and silencing plenty of fans inside Madison Square Garden. Even before the final buzzer sounded, though, attention had already shifted away from the action on the court and toward one very famous spectator sitting in a luxury suite.

According to viewers watching the broadcast, cameras appeared to show Trump with his eyes closed and his head lowered during the game. Naturally, it didn’t take long for clips and screenshots to start circulating online, either!

Critics immediately jumped on the moment, questioning how anyone could fall asleep during such a high-stakes Finals matchup, with some saying stuff like this over on X (Twitter):
“So he ruined the night for all of those people just to take another nap?”
“Imagine going to NBA, falling asleep and getting booed during anthem and on your departure.”
“Legit offensive and inhuman”
“From the Art of the deal to the Art of the Snore/Nap”
“Too busy to go to Don Jr.’s wedding. Time to go to a Knicks game to take a nap.”

The irony here is that Trump’s attendance reportedly created a major disruption for everyone else trying to enjoy the game. Because the President was in the building, heightened security measures were put into place around MSG, per tons of reports. Fans on social media claimed getting into the arena on Monday night became a frustrating ordeal, with extra checkpoints, huge delays, and restricted access creating headaches throughout the evening.

The impact wasn’t limited to fans, either! Businesses near the arena also reportedly felt the effects, as portions of the surrounding area were restricted while Trump attended the game. For many people trying to work, travel, or just enjoy the game, the evening sounded like a logistical nightmare.
Adding insult to injury for New Yorkers, the Knicks ended up losing anyway! So after all the extra security, the traffic headaches, and the attention surrounding Trump’s appearance, hometown fans didn’t even get the victory they were hoping for. At least Trump got his nap! LOLz!!!
