UPDATE 9:00 P.M. EST: Spike has responded to Trump’s inane attack. On Monday Entertainment Weekly asked the director about his speech being called “racist” and he responded:
“Well, it’s okee-doke, you know. They change the narrative. They did the same thing with the African-American players who were kneeling, trying to make it into an anti-American thing, an anti-patriotic thing, and an anti-military thing. But no one’s going for that.”
Unfortunately it seems about 35% of the country is consistently going for it.
Donald Trump jumped on Twitter Monday morning to really make the most of his hours of “executive” time with as much feuding and obnoxiousness as possible.
His first target? No, not North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un, with whom he’s meeting once again this week. Trump LOVES him. That’s why he’s given him everything he wants for months and demanded absolutely nothing in return.
No, his ire was directed toward director Spike Lee, who in his Oscar speech for Best Adapted Screenplay for BlacKkKlansman (congrats!!!) mentioned the 2020 election being around the corner.

Trump attacked Spike, calling his words a “racist hit” saying:
Be nice if Spike Lee could read his notes, or better yet not have to use notes at all, when doing his racist hit on your President, who has done more for African Americans (Criminal Justice Reform, Lowest Unemployment numbers in History, Tax Cuts,etc.) than almost any other Pres!

Is this really what Trump thinks is racist? Trump’s race never came up. His racism was implied though…
Spike didn’t even mention any names. When someone says “choose love over hate” and you immediately know they’re talking about you, MAYBE YOU ARE THE PROBLEM!
Considering the historical nature of the film, which has Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke as a character and specifically refers to racists getting one of their own in office, this wasn’t even going out of his way mentioning voting.
No, Trump doesn’t really think this is racist. It’s just a well-worn strategy of racists to paint a portrait of minorities as dangerous “reverse racists.”
P.S. Trump immediately shifted focus to a retired Democratic Senator who is currently recovering from cancer treatment. Will someone take away this big damn baby’s phone already??
