Doing their duty.
The Republican effort to pass a “skinny repeal” of Obamacare ultimately failed after THREE GOP senators sided with the Democratic party to vote “no” against the bill Thursday. The Republican politicians who went against the grain were none other than Arizona Senator John McCain, Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski, and Maine Senator Susan Collins.

Unsurprisingly, many have flocked to Twitter to weigh in on the headline making vote and to praise the three senators for voting as their conscience dictated. However, not EVERYONE was thrilled with how the vote went down *cough* Donald Trump *cough*!
Be sure to ch-ch-check out the best reactions to the death of the “skinny repeal” bill (below)!
3 Republicans and 48 Democrats let the American people down. As I said from the beginning, let ObamaCare implode, then deal. Watch!

Skinny repeal fell short because it fell short of our promise to repeal & replace Obamacare w/ meaningful reform https://t.co/tZISIvccOO

GOP Senators Collins and Murkowski, two women, led on this. They led with their conscience, not politics. Don’t forget that. #SkinnyRepeal

Welcome to a new day in America, where three senate Republicans and every single Democrat put people’s lives over politics.#SkinnyRepeal

Be mindful not to gloat tonight. We barely survived the #SkinnyRepeal vote. We need to regroup so that it’s never this close again.

Yeah, Collins and Murkowski did the right thing this time but remember they still vote along party lines the majority of the time sooooo

Collins and Murkowski defeated the #SkinnyRepeal. If you don’t include women, don’t be shocked when we set the room on fire on our way out. pic.twitter.com/DQ7VmEXI53

McCain was the final no vote, but Collins and Murkowski deserve no less credit for arriving at the same conclusion first.

If this goes down, everyone will talk about McCain being maverick-y. But remember that Collins and Murkowski showed bravery from the start.

Let’s remember that Collins and Murkowski stood consistent and strong, even as men in their own party threatened to duel them

John McCain likes presidents who don’t get caught without a real healthcare plan.#failurefriday

Republican senators don’t deserve the favor that John McCain just did for them.

Wow, missed this remarkable moment between Chuck Schumer and John McCain on the Senate floor last night. pic.twitter.com/r797AvdoNT
