Donny Osmond is reacting to his older brother’s death.
Heartbreak struck the Osmond family on Monday when The Osmonds founding member Alan died at 76 years old. ABC4 Utah and KUTV reported he passed at around 8:30 p.m. and was surrounded by loved ones, including wife Suzanne Pinegar Osmond and their eight sons. As of now, his cause of death remains unclear, but Alan famously retired from performing four decades ago when he was diagnosed with MS.
Now, a day after Alan’s passing, his younger brother Donny is speaking out.

On Tuesday morning, Donny took to Instagram to share a wonderful throwback photo of himself and Alan as children, and penned a heartbreaking message:
“This is one of the earliest pictures I have of my brother Alan and me. Even back then, you can see that he had his arm around me, watching over me. That’s who he was. My protector. My guide. The one who quietly carried so much responsibility so the rest of us could shine.”
Awww. The 68-year-old continued:
“Alan was our leader in every sense of the word. His tireless work helped build everything we became. I will always be grateful for the sacrifices he made and the love he showed — not just to me, but to every member of our family. I owe him more than I can ever fully express.”
He concluded:
“I love you, Alan. Thank you for always being there for me. Till we meet again, Brother Donny”
