Why was Dr. Dre in a legal battle with a gynecologist??
It’s all about the name.
See, Dre didn’t like that Dr. Draion M. Burch, known for writing the book 20 Things You May Not Know About The Vagina, was attempting to trademark the name “Dr. Drai.”
He argued to the U.S. patent office that there would be market “confusion.” Between an EMCEE and an OBGYN?

Burch defended his use of the soundalike name, saying no one could confuse the two “because Dr Dre is not a medical doctor nor is he qualified to provide any type of medical services or sell products specifically in the medical or healthcare industry.”
Further, the doc claimed he wasn’t trying to evoke the popular rapper’s name at all, saying that would actually hurt his reputation; he even cited lyrics he deemed homophobic and misogynistic. Um, then maybe don’t use the name?
Hmm.
We’re not sure we’re buying Burch’s argument about keeping it classy. His own website (yes, it’s DrDrai.com) markets his book as helping women:

But the trademark office bought it! They ruled in Burch’s favor, meaning he can sell himself and his books under the name Dr. Drai from now on.
