Dr. Dre & Nicole Young DID Have A Prenup -- But He Tore It Up As A Romantic Gesture!

The split between Dr. Dre and Nicole Young just got a bit more complicated.

As we previously reported, Young filed for divorce back in June after more than 24 years of marriage. News of their impending divorce made waves, not only because of the surprise ending of such a long partnership, but also because of the hefty price tag associated with the split. It was originally thought that the couple had no prenup between them — leaving somewhere around half a billion dollars on the line!

Now, according to legal docs obtained by TMZ, the 50-year-old did in fact sign a prenuptial agreement. However, she claimed she did so under duress, and she’s now challenging the contract.

The filing read:

“I was extremely reluctant, resistant and afraid to sign the agreement and felt backed into a corner. Given the extraordinary pressure and intimidation by Andre, I was left with no option but to hire a lawyer (of course, with the help of Andre’s team of professionals) and unwillingly signed the agreement very shortly before our marriage.”

Not only that, she says the contract was voided two years into their marriage, when the music mogul had a change of heart. The doc went on:

“Andre acknowledged to me that he felt ashamed he had pressured me into signing a premarital agreement and he tore up multiple copies of the agreement in front of me. Since the day he tore up the agreements, we both understood that there was no premarital agreement, and that it was null and void.”

Aww! How sweet…

Ripping up some paper is one thing — but going out of your way to tear up multiple copies of the document is a real gesture!! (We aren’t even being sarcastic — in Hollywood, that’s pretty real!)

And if it’s true, it could mean a huge payday for Nicole!

Unsurprisingly, sources close to Dre are denying Young’s version of events; they told TMZ he not only didn’t intend to nullify the agreement, the big romantic gesture of tearing it up never happened at all! Damn.

They also maintain the 55-year-old’s ex had her own independent counsel and was not coerced in any way into signing. According to these insiders, Dre is willing to pay spousal support and take care of Nicole, but NOT to give her a piece of his enormous fortune.

We’re not exactly sure how this will pan out — or if symbolic contract-tearing is admissible in court — but this case has certainly gotten more interesting!

And decidedly less romantic…
