Mary Tyler Moore recently had a tumor called a meningioma successfully removed and is recovering well.
The procedure wasn’t due to a health emergency, but instead elective. However, any kind of brain surgery involving a tumor (benign or not) sounds horrifying, so CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta explained in further detail why Mary Tyler Moore’s doctors decided to remove it now.
