Can a vacuum inventor make a better hair dryer?
Sir James Dyson is certainly gonna try!
The famed inventor has been working on improving how people dry and style their hair, and may have come up with a really expensive solution.

The Dyson Supersonic is currently dark gray with a pop of hot pink and will cost you $399! Yay!
During the development of the product, the 68-year-old billionaire seemed keen on improving people’s daily routines:
“There has been zero innovation in this market for over 60 years. Millions of people use contraptions daily that are hideously inefficient, waste their time and are causing them long-term damage. We realized that we could ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ and should ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ sort this situation out. Four years, 100 odd patents and 600 prototypes later, I think we might have found the answer.”
Unlike traditional hair dryers, the Dyson’s motor is located in the handle instead of the head. This supposedly allows it to be less noisy, lighter, and safer on hair.
Also, the smaller motor results in “high velocity flow but not pressure,” which makes it less likely that a person will burn her or himself while using it.
Kim Kardashian‘s hair stylist Jen Atkin has been chosen as a brand ambassador for the new device, and so far has only good things to say about it, naturally:
“That back-heavy feeling that usually makes your arms ache completely disappears with this, whether working on your own hair or blow drying someone else. For me, or any woman, that is a game changer. This is the ├óΓé¼╦£break the Internet’ dryer.”
We don’t know how it works, but it definitely looks like the future:
And it’ll be available at Sephora stores come September if you have $400 to spare.
