Motala is a 48-year-old elephant who lives in Thailand. She was a former working elephant whose job was to move large trees.
In a sad turn of events, while searching for food in the forest on her lunch break, she stepped on a land mine left over from the Burmese-Thai war.
Her left front foot and most of her leg was blown off.
After saving her life by amputating her leg, she was fitted with a temporary prosthesis to re-learn how to walk.
Now her new, permanent prosthetic leg is in place and she’s reportedly taking to it well.
We’re sure she’ll “never forget” the kindness of her owners.
