Elle France's Beauty Editor Gets It Wrong! Dons Insensitive Blackface For A Party!!

Wow.
If it wasn’t bad enough that this was happening during Halloween, a month later the beauty editor of Elle France decided to wear blackface makeup to a party!
Did she NOT hear about the backlash Julianne Hough and Italian fashion insiders suffered after they pulled the same move??
The editor in question, Jeanne Deroo, attended a private party with the theme “Icons” over the weekend and decided that the only way to fully channel her icon, Solange Knowles, was to color her face. She posted a picture of her offensive choice on Instagram before realizing her mistake, and has since taken it down.
She also released a plethora of apologies via Twitter today, which read:

“I realise how much the fact of painting oneself brown is an offensive act. I didn’t realise the seriousness of my action when I went to a private party last Saturday evening, which the theme was “Icons”, and where I chose to embody Solange Knowles, of whom I am a fan. During this private party, I posted a picture of myself on my Instagram without intention of hurting anyone. I deeply regret and would like to present all my apologies. I would also like to indicate that this picture published in a private context does not involve in any way the french ELLE magazine I work for, and I am sorry for the prejudice it has caused.”

It├óΓé¼Γäós a little strange that the editor of a trendy magazine would be THAT ignorant about the inappropriateness of blackface, ESPECIALLY after all the dramz surrounding the issue during Halloween, don’t U think??
Sounds like someone hasn’t been doing her homework, or just work in general! Then again, maybe we should blame the educational systems of the world — are we not explaining this well enough in history class!?!?!
Sad.
Her apology seems genuine, though. Props for that at least.
