She got married this year, so OBVIOUSLY she wants to support marriage equality!
Many have been wondering where Ellen financial support for No On 8 has been, while a bunch of other celebs have been shelling out cash for the cause.
We think she did plenty – talking about it on her show, blogging about it on her site and even making a PSA about No on 8!
Well, DeGeneres has finally made her move, purchasing $100,000 of TV air time to present the heartfelt spot she taped urging folks to vote No On 8.
Ellen’s television ad comes at a crucial time, less than three weeks prior to the election, and will hopefully reach the hearts and minds of Californians everywhere.
Equality California campaign director Patrick Guerriero said,
“Her voice has a tremendous ability to elevate this conversation above the scare tactics and help people understand what’s at stake for the people they know and care about. Her generous contribution to the campaign comes just at the right moment ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ and is done in a way that ensures her conversation with voters continues to Election Day. And it delivers our message that Proposition 8 is unfair and just plain wrong.”
The proof is in the pudding, because in a recent guest appearance on Ellen, Democratic Veep candidate Joe Biden came out against Prop 8.
Fabulous news!
