Ellie Kemper is a mom of two!
The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt star revealed on Saturday morning via Instagram she gave birth to a baby boy in September as she celebrated Matthew‘s one-month milestone with a mother-son selfie!

The 39-year-old wrote a short and sweet caption along with the (above) photo, sharing:
“Happy 1-Month Birthday to our baby boy, Matthew! He has inherited his dad’s brown hair and his mom’s desire to be carried around all day in a baby sling. He’s a good boy. ❤️❤️”
The Office alum and husband Michael Koman, whom she wed in 2012, are also parents to three-year-old son James Miller Koman. She announced her first pregnancy while appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon after initially discovering she was with baby while filming the second season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.
Unfortunately, this pregnancy wasn’t as pleasant as the first! While appearing on Live with Kelly and Ryan in June to promote The Secret Life of Pets 2, the Netflix alum revealed the road to baby number two wasn’t exactly easy:
“The first trimester was awful. I have a 2-year-old now and when I was pregnant with him, I was fine. First trimester [this time], just terrible! Just tired and nauseous and all of it.”
We’re sure having Matthew here now makes any morning sickness all worth it!
Kemper shared at the time with Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest she and husband Michael were “gonna wait to find out” if it was a boy or a girl, but Koman had “really” wanted to find out the baby’s sex “just so we don’t have to pick out names for both.”
But her son apparently had his suspicions he was going to be getting a little brother! Ellie shared:
“James said, ‘What is the baby going to be named?’ and I said, ‘I don’t know, what do you think it should be named?’ And he said, without hesitation, ‘Marshal.’ We don’t know anyone named Marshall, I don’t know how he came up with Marshall.”
So why Marshall? Apparently, the toddler’s choice was influenced by a character on PAW Patrol:
“He does not watch the show PAW Patrol, but he has friends who watch it and so I think Marshall is a character on PAW Patrol. He’s not as creative as I thought. He just heard someone say Marshall.”
So they didn’t end up going with Marshall, but Matthew is pretty close!
